How to Emergency Manual Stow a Minn Kota Ulterra

Minn Kota Ulterra Motor Error Notification
If you're wondering why you are getting a "Motor Error" notification on your i-Pilot or i-Pilot Link Remote, 9 out of 10 times it's because something is blocking the motor from reaching it's final destination in it's stow or deploy action.
Typically it can be weed build up on the motor head or event something on the deck of your boat that may be putting pressure on the motor.
How to do a Trim Reset on Minn Kota Ulterra
If your Ulterra or Riptide Ulterra motor does not rotate into the horizontal position when stowing, or the vertical position when deploying at the appropriate time, you may need to do a Trim Reset.
During the stow sequence, the motor lower unit should come straight up and begin to rotate into the horizontal position when the lower unit is about twelve 12 to 13 inches below the aluminum base extrusion. During the deploy sequence, the motor lower unit should extend about 5 to 6 inches out from the steering housing and then begin to rotate into the vertical position.

How to do a Stow Reset on Minn Kota Ulterra
If your Ulterra or Riptide Ulterra motor does not properly position the motor lower unit in the “park” position when stowing, you may need to do a Stow Reset.
This is typically when the motor lower unit is not turned to orient it at 90 degrees relative to the motor mounting base so that it lays horizontally when the Ulterra motor pulls the motor on to the motor ramps). This video shows you the simple steps to reset the motor.
